Curiosities
Son of a fisherman from Caxinas, he worked as a baker, painter and in construction before living solely from football, and was known as the «Figo of Caxinas». He arrived at Luz in 2007 as a winger — Sporting, his heart club, did not want to go beyond 750 thousand euros — and it was Jorge Jesus who transformed him into a left-back. In 2011 he left for Real Madrid for 30 million. Unfortunately, nowadays he is remembered as a 'meme' of Portuguese football, for numerous reasons and controversies.
