He was trained at Sporting, but made history at Benfica. When he signed for the Eagles in 2001, he became an idol and captain of the biggest rival of the club where he had grown up. Throughout his six seasons at Luz (2001-2007), he was the team's top scorer in all of them, and a central figure in ending an 11-year championship drought (2004/05).
