Curiosities
He is one of the eight players who represented the main teams of the three big clubs: Sporting (1983/84), FC Porto (1984–87) and Benfica (1993). He stayed at Luz for only half a season, but left his mark. In the 1993 Portuguese Cup final (5-2 against Boavista) he scored two goals, made an assist and even suffered a penalty, which William did not convert. It was, in his own words, his best performance in the Benfica shirt.
