Frequently Asked Questions
On which platforms can I play?
Benficadle is a web game and works on any modern browser, on computer or mobile, however, it is recommended to play on a computer due to the larger screen.
Does the game work without an internet connection?
No, an internet connection is required to load player data.
Can a player become the daily player again shortly after already appearing?
No. Once a player has been the daily player, they are excluded from selection for 60 days, to avoid repeating too soon.
If I play on two different devices on the same day, does my result sync?
Yes, but only if you are signed in. In that case, if you have already played the daily challenge on another device, the game automatically loads that result. Without an account, progress is only saved on that browser.
Do the Training players repeat?
Yes, the Training players are randomly selected from a pool of players, and they can repeat. The pool is updated periodically to include new players and remove players that have already appeared many times.
How does Higher or Lower work?
Two players appear: the first shows how many goals (or appearances) they have for Benfica, and you say whether the second has more or fewer. Every right answer is a point and the second player takes the place of the first; one mistake and the game is over. You can play as many times as you like — with an account, your best score goes into the records ranking on the home page.
Why is player X not in the game?
Player data was collected from external sources and may be incomplete. If a player does not appear, it may be because their data was not available in those sources at the time of collection or, in the case of players from the 1904/05 and 1905/06 seasons or more recent seasons, because the players would only have friendly matches, and these were not included in the game.
How often is the data updated?
Data is updated periodically. You can see the data validity date in the page footer.
Are the historical player data reliable?
For older seasons, the data may be incomplete or estimated, or not consistent across different sources. For more recent seasons, the data is more reliable but may still contain errors or omissions. The game is based on the available data but may not accurately reflect historical reality.
Why do some players not have a photo?
A photo is not always available or does not have clear usage rights, especially for older players. In those cases, a generic image is shown instead of the real photo.
Do the player stats (goals, games, trophies) refer to their whole career or just at Benfica?
They refer exclusively to the period in which the player represented Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
Do I need to create an account to play?
No, you can play without an account. Creating one is optional and lets you save your statistics, streak and player collection on the server, sync across devices, and appear on the public rankings.
Will I lose my statistics if I clear my browser or switch devices without an account?
Yes. Without an account, your statistics are only stored locally in that browser, so clearing the site data or switching browsers or devices will make you lose that history. With an account, they are stored on the server.
Does using hints penalize my statistics in any way?
Using a hint does not make you lose attempts or affect the outcome of the game.
What can my friends see?
Only your friends see your result in today's Daily: whether you solved it or gave up, with the attempts, the hints and the colour grid, without the player's name or your guesses. They also see your current and best streak, your Higher or Lower records and how many players you have in your collection. You can remove or block someone in Friends at any time, and whoever you block is not told.
What is the “Trivia” section on a player's profile page?
It is a small section with an interesting fact about that player. It only appears for players who have this information available.
